There's a lot I like about this 911sc in Texas: It's a Euro 911 (about 25+ hp), doesn't have a sunroof (nice weight savings), RUF bumpers front and rear (more weight savings), and the sexy RUF wheels (appropriately spelled as wheel$ in the post).

The bad news is that it sounds like the interior is a little rough and it's been repainted. Plus I'm really not feeling the RS America wing. But considering the list of maintenance and relatively low miles for an SC (122k), $14.5k sounds like a pretty solid deal and definitely worth a look.

For quite some time there has been only one Alpina resource I knew of that did a decent job of satisfying the urge and curiosity I have for the nearly unobtainable Alpina automobiles: the M5Board's Alpina Forum and the archived Unofficial Alpina Website that they still host. Good stuff in there for sure with lots of model specific information.

But move over bacon, the Official Website of BMW Car Club GB Alpina has made it's presence known. It has it all: An active community, a classifieds area that is to die for, and some beautiful Alpina wallpapers, to name but a few features. Of course the main purpose of the site is to act as a registry for Alpina's.

I've had their site open in my browser for several days now, there's that much to check out!

With a buy-it-now of $21k, this looks 'interesting'. Pre-74 911's command quite a premium these days. This one isn't original and the interior certainly needs attention. But it could be a cool R Gruppe project and a blast to drive in the meantime.

A photo journey to Nurburgring

After we had driven the ring, we sat at the parking lot where it over looks Nordschleif. We asked ourselves, were the experience note-worthy? did it lived up to our expectaction, answer were: yes, and no.

why we said no? cause imagine everything u'd imagined multiplies by 100, then that's the result, even to this day, we watched our videos and we still get goosebumps, the track itself was more than challenging even for my wife, whom has done much more tracking than I, in a Golf 1.6FSI. 22km, more than 100m in elevation change, most memorable part was the straight with the dip I believe was a the 5km mark, it made our ears popped, then suddenly a right turn, its no wonder even Michael Schumacher said (quoted from the museum): "you don't memorize the track by turns, you just drive". After the lap, your body would shake and shiver, then realize what an amazing thing you've just done. It was simply AMAZING!

Also had a chance to ride in the Ring Taxi! If ANYONE has a chance to go ... pay the money! It's well worth the cost. Some things you just have to do at least once in your life and that is one of them.

Nurburgring Road Trip 2007 Report...

One thing that GT4 and their ilk can never convey is the compressions and centrifugal forces of this track. You have heard that before but my god is it true. The ups and downs are so severe your ears pop as the pressure changes, and you feel your organs sink as you hit dip. Having avoided hitting the massive concrete wall at Breidscheid for example, you head for what looks like a near vertical hill bending off to the right – more like a rollercoaster than a race track. Most of the corners are blind and require major commitment, while the Carousel - despite how well we think we know it from You Tube – is so steeply banked and so rough, it feels like its doing thousands of dollars worth of damage to your car….but damn is it fun. To a newbie like me, a lap of the ‘Ring is a truly amazing feeling. It’s exhausting concentrating but so enjoyable its over too soon – you just want to keep going.

I'll say this, the ring is just like GT4 in real life.. almost identical.. Forza is way way way off as are PGR2 and 3. GT4 is spot on accurate, the only thing it doesnt really give a sense for is the incredible elevation changes..There are uphill sections so insane they had me losing speed in 3rd gear floored in the 1 series... Some of the elevation changes are so drastic you can feel your ears clog up and pop in the space of about 2 corners..Nothing can prepare you for the banking on the Carousel either.. it is so much more steep than i expected, feels like more than 45 degrees..Anyway i could go on about this all damn day, this was the most incredible time of my life.. everyone needs to go.

Long winded recount of nurburgring trip (no 56)

A few weekends ago I accompanied my brother to the ring.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I am a pessimist through and through, but needless to say I wish to now live in germany and become a ring monkey for the rest of my life.

Our party consisted of : 993 carrera S, 993 turbo, m3 CSL, dc2 Integra Type R, and a whitechapel spec 318is beater with half the demontweeks wideboy catalogue on it.

I spotted this great ride on the Pacific Northwest sub-forum on VWVortex. I really like this package, color and great interior. For $4k, this would probably be a really fun car. And the ad is really amusing as well.

If I wasn't planning a trip to Ireland and Germany for April (more on this soon), I would march right across town and buy this killer little bike! These are appreciating classics and I believe I recall seeing this bike in person about 7 years ago at the Vintage Motorcycle show in Corvallis. If someone wants me to act as a broker, I'd be happy to take a look on your behalf and arrange for sale and delivery.

CB400F on Craigslist

'75 CB400F Super Sport. Red paint is flawless, no tank dents, factory stock tank and side cover decals, Looks great. Motor is tight with just over 23000 miles. No smoke or leaks. Could use some minor tuning to run perfect but runs good as is.

This bike has been stored indoors and rust is NOT an issue/ All lights, guages and indicators work as they should. Tires are new. Exhaust is a stock headpipe in very good condition with a Dunstall shortie muffler attached. This pipe is pretty loud when running and could use a larger muffler, Besides that there are a few cosmetic things like paint on the guage housing and headlamp faded, the starter switch fell out and the sidestand broke its weld.

Overall this is a very complete, good running, 'rider' bike. It runs down the road good, the wheels and frame are all strait and it has very good road manners when running along at speed.

3. Sign up for a Bloglines account (it's free and web based).
   • Bloglines happens to be the service I use, but you can use any application that allows you to subscribe to .rss feeds like my.yahoo.com, feedburner, or a personalized google page.
   • And if you're thinking ahead, yes, this technique works for any site that offers .rss feeds. Most browsers and web pages have an icon that is displayed if the .rss feed is available for a given page.
4. Now add this link, the one you copied when your results were displayed (even if 0), to your feed list on Bloglines.
5. Viola! Now every time an item matching your search hits Craigslist, you'll be the first to know if you pay attention to your Bloglines account. Usually updates itself every few minutes! I leave the site open on a browser window while I'm at work so I can keep an eye on ad's all the time!
