This car may have 100k+ miles, but it has extensive history and maintenance, including what the listing describes as the last 2.3-16 motor in MB inventory!

1987 Mercedes 190 2.3-16 on eBay (Wisconsin):

Mercedes 190 2.3-16 For SaleSilver Mercedes 2.3-16 CosworthMercedes 190 2.3-16 Cosworth For Sale Silver

This rare model is in Excellent condition. First owner to 1997 78000 miles from Dallas TX. Second owner and winter stored, was from Greendale WI. Also second owner was a officer in the local Merceedes club and searched the country to find a near perfect 190E 16V before finding this car for sale in Dallas.

He spent close to $20,000 in his ownership to keep it like new and buy many spare NOS maintainence parts that are in boxes included in the sale along with a complete set of factory service manuals. The interior retains the original material and the paint is also as factory applied in 1987 and has been invited to and shown regurlarly ( from 2000 untill 2006 ) at local concours shows as it is still excellent with no inclement weather use.

This car is currently bid at $15k and the buy-it-now was $16k. Good money for this well looked after example and still a remarkable value compared to it's main competitor, the BMW e30 M3. Considering good examples are moving for $8-12k, this looks like a good buy for a car that will need nothing for years to come.

If my Ducati 750SS represents the entry level model for 93, this represents the top of the line - and by a wide margin!

1993 Ducati 888 SPO w/ 15k miles on eBay:

1993 Ducati 888 For Sale1993 Ducati 888 SPODucati 888 SPO Superbike for sale

1993 Ducati 888 SPO, exceptionally clean for the year. This bike has been stored for the past six years, but engine started and ran occasionally. Timing belts have been replaced, valves have been adjusted. Bike includes 50 mm Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust, snowflake full floating front rotors, Ohlin rear suspension and a Corbin vented seat. Bike runs super strong, it pulls like a big block Chevy on steroids. No problems of any kind. Handles like nothing you've ever rode. Bike has virtually new tires but should be replaced because of age. The bike has been well maintained throughout its life. This bike was GPS at 172 MPH. The 888 was the begining of Ducati's Super Bike Racing Championships. The SPO was only produced for 2 years, 1993 and 1994. Check out the production numbers to the U.S. in 1993, I've included a picture. Would be a great bike for any collector, you definately will not be disappointed in this bike.

Someone really loved this bike and it's build. Very tasteful and well executed modifications. Bike is being listed on the Cheshire Motorsports website, which offers an alternative to Ducati dealer service in the Portland Metro Area.

In the affordable and attainable category, the 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 w/ 24k miles, New York:

74 Porsche 914 2.0 For Sale SilverPorsche 914 For Sale1974 Porsche 914 For Sale

1974 Porsche 914 2.0 This car is 100% original and in pristine condition. The car is as if it rolled off the factory floor. 1974 2.0 is the year of choice for the 914. Body is flawless with absolutely no rust. Car runs as if new. Includes original keys, owners manual, tool kit, etc. This is an unexpected sale on my part. I just put 4 new tires on and had 4 wheel alignment done this past week. In the past 6 months engine received tune-up, valve adjustment, major service, all fluids changed, brake pads. Also new fuel and brake lines installed. Any and all questions welcome.

These seem to be an increasingly good value as we see early 911 examples shoot for the sky. Worth considering or worth saving a few more dollars for a 911? Leave a comment!

Here's a gray market 323i that sold while I was gone. Very cool and original upgrades:

1985 EURO BMW E30 323i with Alpina / Zender C1 2.3 M3 on eBay (Dallas, Sold for $5200):

1985 BMW 323i Alpina Zender

Offered here for sale is one very rare and collectible 1985 EURO BMW E30 323i with an Alpina / Zender C1 2.3 package, based on BMW's 323i (E30 body style)

This car was purchased new in Europe Germany at the time, and then imported it to the US. The car was federalized in the USA. The service was done not long ago as well (all fluids being changed, the sparks and wires replaced, new hoses, new exhaust, etc.). It is a Texas car with no rust, shinny paint and it is registered in Texas. German tags all around, never wreck. The car is registered in Texas as a 1985 323i. This Bimmer has new upholstery. Original German front plate. The plastic and moldings are complete and in great shape. I have owned MANY e30 and e30 M3 and I never seen a cleanest and tightest e30 like this car. The interior is extra clean as well as the bay engine. No weird noises, and is really strong and very responsive when driving

This car has the following Alpina or Schnitzer parts installed: 323i-based 6-cylinder engine, limited-slip finned-cover differential, super light weight BBS 7Jx15" wheels (two pieces) , Alpina wheels emblems, Zender front fiberglass spoiler, Zender rear spoiler, and Schnitzer Side skirts. Front and rear Alpina emblem, sport springs, shocks and struts. Alpina Racing gear box with close-ratio 5-speed transmission, fuel injection system, ZF slip diff, center muffler, twin rear mufflers, instrument cluster in km(106.300) not miles, wiper and washer headlight kit. Power windows, power mirrors, power sunroof. New light tint windows, yellow beams. It is equipped with sport suspension; German Bleinstein shocks and sport short springs. Alpina rare fender turn signals. Momo gear knob. Sony exploid stereo (I rather to have the original but I bought the cat with that stereo).

I've also noticed quite a few enticing BMW's on EnthusiastAuto.com that have been listed on RoadFly. They have not one, two, or three sweet e30 M3's, but several other cool BMW's as well. Here are a few pics:

I'm back from vacation and I have lots to catch up on. But there are so many sweet rides to post, I'm hitting those first. Plus it will give me more time to update the Google Map and post process images from the trip.

Many, many thanks to Blair, Ed, and Paul for posting while I was gone. I really enjoyed the fresh picks and am honored that you'd look after the place while I was gone.

A late start to the 2008 season

Guest Blog entry by: Paul

The Rabbit has been neglected, there is no denying it. Besides a couple of track day appearances and a respectable showing at Larison Rock 2007 with Dan and Ed sharing the driver’s seat the Bunny has spent the majority of it’s life sitting, clearly this is wrong.

The primary reasons for the cobwebs on the 16V are the usual suspects, time and money, or more accurately, lack thereof. I am committed to making a serious effort this year to be more involved with the resurrection, maintenance, and use (flogging) of the Rabbit. When Dan returns from Germany, (and he better be on the lookout for cool VW stuff while he’s there), this project should get fully back on track.

There are several reasons why 2008 is destined to be the year of the Rabbit. First, I am fortunate to work at a shop where race days are considered holidays. Both my employers are avid and skilled racers themselves and I have access to both their knowledge and equipment . One of my co-workers is a veteran crew chief with experience and winning seasons with both Porsche and Honda’s factory race teams on his extensive resume. It would be a wasted opportunity not to take advantage of the support and skills of these men. The second reason why this year is special is that Portland International Raceway has finally been given the attention it so needed with a complete repaving and renovation! Reports from the track so far have been outstanding, several turns were modified and surface quality is tremendously improved, I can’t wait to try it out for myself. Lastly I am lucky to live in Eugene Oregon, home of the Emerald Empire Sports Car Club. This club is one of the oldest and most active autocross clubs in the Northwest. Their events have always been safe, well-managed, efficient, and above all fun! We must try to make it to as many autocrosses as we can this year.

So this is it, the beginning of another motorsports season. The first step down this long road begins here, in Dan’s driveway, where the Rabbit has spent the winter. Dan was good enough to remove the moss from the exterior and the mold from the interior prior to my drive to Eugene. (is that Febreze I smell?)

The Rabbit as of March 15 2008

The first order of business is diagnostic. Ed complained of an intermittent running problem that left him stranded a time of two. I experienced a minor, possibly related, issue while drag racing at Woodburn last June. There is now a noticeable miss under acceleration and I suspect it is ignition related however the fuel system is suspect as well. A full tune-up and fuel pressure testing is on the schedule for this Sunday, hopefully the cause can be found and repaired.

An unexpected bonus last week was a set of new shoes for the Bunny. My boss Joe has upgraded his Duetto to 15” wheels for 2008 which meant he had a set of almost-new 14” Hoosier R6 take-offs, these were heat-cycled by the Tire Rack prior to install then used for the final weekend of the 2007 season, basically brand new tires just broken in. This is a big deal for us since neither Dan nor I have ever driven on race slicks. Everyone we’ve spoken to swears they change the entire dynamic of the car and should turn the Rabbit into a true track machine. Looks like it’s time to say Auf Wiedersehen to our venerable Falkin Azenis and Hello to these bad boys!

Hoosier R6 Tires

Well that's it for now. I will add updates as progress continues. Check back often for write-ups by both Dan and myself of the various events we visit this season. This is going to be a good year!
