Small Gallery from the Euros in the Valley Car Show 2009

Paul was one of the organizers behind this year’s Euros in the Valley car show. Naturally I had to attend and I was really surprised with the great turnout. Here are my personal favs from the show:

Scirocco MK2 owned by Josh from Sports Car Shop:

Check out the uber rare Zender fan covers! I’m going to have to go back to the VW&Porsche archive to see if I can find an original ad for these. I hear the rims underneath are just as impressive.

Darren’s sweet e30 325ic, which has been brought back from the dead, literally! Great job man!
Euros in the Valley 2009 BMW e30 325i Cabriolet Alpina

This BMW 3.0CS was in fantastic shape:

I finally got to see Richard’s e21 320i that I posted on German Cars For Sale Blog. The first real e21 buyer that comes along is going to buy this car. No negotiation required as $3200 is more than fair!

Paul’s Porsche 911SC looks like one of the standouts at this years show:

My personal pick for best of show was this bus. Totally perfect in every way:

Though a close second would be this Sahara BMW 2002:

Here’s a gallery of all the cars I took pics of:

Nice event! Looking forward to participating more in the coming year,

Manufacturers Withdraw from Major Motorsports Arenas

They’re falling like domino’s with two more announcements today: Subaru and Suzuki are out of the World Rally Championship and Porsche is leaving the American Le Mans Series. Earlier this month, Audi declared they were also leaving ALMS this season, which followed Honda’s decision to pull out of the pinnacle of auto racing, Formula 1. And yesterday, Honda announced it was also pulling out of AMA motorcycle racing next year as well.

With this many high profile exits, I wonder how many more will jump ship before the 2009 season begins?! Do you think it will cause the collapse or consolidation of any major racing series?

Mrs. Rubley Spots the Edmunds Audi R8 in Corvallis

My wife sent me this shot from her cel phone of a gray Audi R8 spotted in Corvallis this past weekend:

Audi R8 in Corvallis Edmunds Road Test

I briefly considered that in may be the Edmunds long term test car since they were heading up I-5 to Seattle. But I dismissed it as I figured they’d fly right by our little town.

Turns out, it was the Edmunds long term test car. They just posted a blog entry about hitting Mary’s Peak:

And btw, that’s when you know it’s true love. When your wife stops dead in her tracks to send you an IM with a picture of an R8 when you’re 350 miles from home πŸ˜€

I have a handful of Mary’s Peak pictures on my Flickr, check ’em out.
